The seven head ports of the Cinque Ports Confederation hold the Speakership in rotation.  The Mayor of Winchelsea is Speaker from May 2019 to May 2020.

The principal ceremonial event is the annual Speaker’s Day Parade and Service attended by the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff, along with mayors and civic representatives of the towns of the Confederation.

The Winchelsea event took place on Saturday 5th October 2019.  The Lord Warden’s Procession was followed by a service at St Thomas’ Church at which the preacher was the Lord Warden’s Chaplain, The Rt Revd Trevor Willmott.  The procession was led by Sussex Brass.
