Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday will both be marked in Winchelsea in 2023
The Rector of Winchelsea will lead a short Act of Remembrance at Winchelsea War Memorial at 11am on Saturday 11th November, Armistice Day.
On Remembrance Sunday, 12th November, the Mayor will lead the ceremony at the War Memorial at 11am, laying a wreath on behalf of the town. Others who wish to lay wreaths are most welcome to do so.
Following the laying of wreaths, there will be a Service of Remembrance in the Church. By kind permission of the PCC, donations made at that service will go to the RBL Poppy Appeal.
The Rector will lead the Service at Pett and David Page will lead the service at Winchelsea.
This year’s Poppy Appeal runs until Sunday 12th November. Donation tins and trays containing poppies and pins are available at The Little Shop, The New Inn, Winchelsea Lodge, the Co-op, Sutton’s Shop, The Ship Inn/Jamie’s Butchers and Winchelsea Sands.
